Thomas Building (Goddard
School and Offices) continued, page2
There will be parking for 205 cars in
back of the building, in a two level
parking garage. The parking will be for
use by all of the tenants in the
surrounding buildings. The incoming
traffic flow will be via a road between
the Sandy Spring Bank and the Goddard
school. Exiting will be via the same
road or, for those who want to turn
left, Meeting House Road (which will
have a light at Route 108).
On the west (Olney) side of the building
will be a playground that goes from the
sidewalk to the south end of the parking
area. There will be a fence, possibly
wrought iron, around the playground for
security.
West of the playground will be 55 feet
of existing trees along the sidewalk
(the forestation plan). There are also
a number of trees behind the parking lot
that lead to the townhouses. There will
also be a green roof. The existing
storm water management system pond area
will be renovated to serve as the storm
water management system for the entire
complex, including the new building.
The initial
site plan is available online.
However, the developer has stated that
it will change.
This will be the first building designed
using the current Sandy Spring-Ashton
Master Plan in the Sandy Spring area.
It is likely to be a precedent for the
area, particularly with regard to
signage and lighting.
There are a few other Goddard Schools in
the area: Rockville (Gaither Road, King
Farms), Columbia, and Marriottsville.
See

information on the Goddard Schools,
including addresses of local schools.
