The SSARPC web
site (www.ssarpc.org) has been updated
with significant new information about new development being proposed for the
Sandy Spring-Ashton area.
ezStorage
Siena
Corporation is planning to build an ezStorage self-storage facility in Sandy Spring, replacing
the WH Rental building on Route 108, across from the Sandy Spring Museum.
Siena has recently submitted a Preliminary Plan to Montgomery County Park and
Planning. That Preliminary Plan can be examined on our web site.
Our web site
also has a summary of the open meeting that was held on May 6 and information
about the ezStorage plan for Burtonsville that was denied by the Planning
Board (including the Planning Staff’s recommendations and the Planning
Board deliberations).

Thomas
Building
The proposal
is for a franchise of the Goddard School (a school for young children), plus other
separate offices. It is planned to be built on the west (Olney) side of the
Sandy Spring Bank in Sandy Spring, along Route 108 and is planned to be part
of the “insurance complex” of buildings. The building, to
be called the Thomas Building, will, if built, be the first thing one will
see when entering downtown Sandy Spring from the west (Olney side) and will
likely set a precedent for the design of other new development in the
immediate area. The preliminary and site plans are being prepared. There is
an early version of the Site Plan on the web site, but keep in mind that it
is very likely to change.
